Meet Sybil
“I’m scared, but I’m never going to stop fighting.” — Sybil
Sybil can best be described by the five F’s — Faith, Family, Friends, Football, and Fishing.
She is a proud follower of Jesus Christ, a big sister to TJ, and part of the most loving family anyone could ask for. She has been blessed with incredible friends who bring light into her life every single day.
She absolutely loves football (especially cheering on the University of South Carolina Gamecocks) and is happiest when she is outside fishing, surrounded by God’s creation.
For most of her life, she was a typical, joyful young woman — playing soccer, driving her Jeep, going to prom, and chasing her dreams at the college of her choice.
Sybil's Dreams — What Keeps Her Shining
Even through the darkness, Sybil still dreams big.
- She dreams of going on another mission trip to share her faith and inspire others.
- She dreams of returning to my work as a teacher’s assistant and helping children learn and grow.
- She dreams of getting married one day and having a family of her own.
- And most of all, she dreams that one day there will be a cure — not just for herself, but for every child living with Batten disease.
Through Sybil Shines, she wants to share her story to raise awareness, fuel hope, and remind others that even in the darkest moments, God’s light still shines.
